São os poucos mícrons na superfície que transformam um pedaço de titânio em ânodo. Numa célula RP a camada vai em todas as placas e nas duas faces, porque cada placa trabalha como ânodo na sua vez.
O titânio é o substrato. A superfície escura e acetinada é o produto — e é a parte que um fornecedor mais barato pode aplicar mais fina sem avisar. Por isso a linha da proposta que vale discutir é a carga de revestimento.
