Sieben massive Platten, 1,0 mm dick, 4,0 mm Abstand. Blank, kalt und elektrochemisch untätig. Hier ist nichts verbraucht — die Platte ist schlicht noch nicht beschichtet.
Erst die wenigen Mikrometer an der Oberfläche machen aus einem Stück Titan eine Anode. Bei einer RP-Zelle kommt die Schicht auf jede Platte und auf beide Flächen, denn jede Platte arbeitet abwechselnd als Anode.
Das Titan ist das Substrat. Die dunkle, seidenmatte Oberfläche ist das Produkt — und genau sie kann ein billigerer Lieferant stillschweigend dünner auftragen. Die Position im Angebot, über die zu verhandeln lohnt, ist deshalb die Beschichtungsauflage.
